In 2013, after working for others for many years, Charleen Vaughan ventured out on her own to start Salon 617. Charleen, originally from Milford, Massachusetts started her hair design in 1989. She graduated top of her class at Blaine School of Hair. Since then she has had a passion for making every client look and feel their best. In order to achieve the success of meeting this goal, a devotion to continuing her education and studying under masters has been constant over the past 28 years. Her career started with a focus on ethnic hair types. Learning braiding, extensions, interlock braiding, press and curls, and relaxers. From there her learning expanded to all hair types through extensive global training. In Vancouver, Canada, with Ana Karizis, she studied advanced color formulation and placement color on skin tones. With Ricardo Dinis and Melvyn Ainger, she studied advanced cutting techniques and advanced cutting on face shapes. For 10 years, she went from being the student to the teacher, teaching color and cutting. “I love to go to work every day to make my clients feel beautiful and confident about the way their hair and color looks. I love personalizing each style to make people feel their best by cutting for each individuals face shape and color for their skin tone. I have been designing for 28 years and absolutely love what I do!”-Says Charleen.
